There has been a sharp increase in the number of consumers that are seeking debt advice from specialists. This is largely due to the effects of the credit crunch, with house values falling and unemployment rising, more and more people are finding themselves in financial difficulty and speaking to debt advice companies about the possible alternatives and solutions to their problems.
The debt advice sector have confirmed that they are snowed under with enquirys from desperate consumers with multiple borrowings, out of control credit card accounts, loans, store cards, catalogues as well as unmanageable household bills.
People are having to deal with higher council tax payments, increased gas and electric bills, higher food and travelling expenses, along with everything else, and some consumers are simply cracking under the strain of it all.
The light at the end of the tunnel looks dim however, with most economic experts predicting that the downturn could be with us for a long time. It may be time to dig in and prepare for a long and difficult time ahead.
