President Obama called Tiger to offer support

President Obama, a keen golfer, is believed to have contacted 34-year old Woods after his public apology on TV for his multiple extra-marital affairs.

Ex-president Bill Clinton, who is also no stranger to public humiliation following an affair with Monica Lewinsky, is also said to have contacted Woods to offer his support.

Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, did not attend the televised confession which was filmed at the Professional Golfers’ Association in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and has been watched by millions around the globe.

In the apology Woods admitted to cheating on his wife and confirmed he was undergoing treatment for his addiction to sex.

His affairs have said to have costed him around £50m in lost sponsorship deals, as sports drink Gatorade join telephone giant AT&T and razor blade manufacturers Gillette on the list of companies who have dropped celebrity endorsement deals with Woods.

On December 30 2009, Tiger is alleged to have checked into the Pine Grove Behavioural Health and Addiction Services clinic, in the small town of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The billionaire lifestyle that his multi-major winning success has brought him is a far cry from the drab concrete outbuilding of a clinic for sex addicts, but golfer Tiger Woods has started treatment to prevent divorce.

Elin Nordegren, 30 The Swedish ex-model, is mother to Tiger’s two young children, and she stopped wearing her wedding ring after their infamous bust-up in late November last year. This approach by Tiger, to seek help, is to try and avoid the couple from separating on more permanent basis.

According to a report in an American news magazine, Tiger has been on the centre’s $60,000 (£37,000) six-week Gentle Path programme since the end of last year.

It is claimed that Elin made Tiger agree to stop cheating and enter sexual rehab, threatening the golfer that she would take the couple’s children – Sam Alexis, 2, and 6-month-old son Charlie Axel – back to Sweden. He accepted in exchange for Elin not seeking immediate divorce proceedings.

The couple’s troubles became public following a blazing Thanksgiving night row, which culminated in Tiger evading their Orlando mansion bare-footed, before crashing his car into a tree at the bottom of their drive and being taken to hospital.

It is also rumoured that the disgraced golfer may have moved in with the New York club promoter Miss Uchitel.

The latest claim by respected American TV show “Entertainment Tonight”, indicates that Woods may still be seeing the first mistress to be named in the cheating scandal – Miss Uchitel.

Sources told the hit Amwerican show that Tiger Woods and Miss Uchitel were mingling with about 300 revellers during a private party at a mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday night. It is also alleged that the pair were seen holding hands.

The world’s most well known golfer, Tiger Woods, owns a yacht called Privacy, which is docked in Palm Beach. Coincidentally, during the past week, Miss Uchitel has been photographed several times at the upscale resort town.

Claims made on the Entertainment Tonight programme were that the couple are living together at a secret location.

The show’s website is also claiming that the couple were spotted together at the trendy Everglades Club in Palm Beach on Saturday.

When asked whether she was with Woods over the weekend, Miss Uchitel responded: “No comment.”

Tiger’s wife Elin Nordegren, is said to be pursuing her plans for a swift divorce, following a series of revelations that her husband had affairs with up to 11 women.

Shamed star, Tiger Woods maybe on the comeback trail after was publicly backed overnight by one of his major sponsors – amid claims they were on the verge of ditching him. TAG Heuer, the Swiss watchmaker had removed pictures of Woods from its website as details of his alleged affairs emerged. The firm backtracked last night and re-posted the images under the headline: TAG Heuer stands with Tiger Woods.

The company claimed its previous decision to axe the photos was simly a “supportive move”. The site also explained that Woods had been TAG Heuer brand ambassador since 2002 and insisted the relationship was “strictly professional”.

So far at least 14 women have come forward to claim they had affairs with the cheating Woods, and this number seems still to be growing.

Other sponsors have reacted differently, Woods was completely dropped by Consulting firm Accenture as its representative earlier this month. They said at the time that he no longer presented the right image. While his advertisements for Gillette razors have been axed by the company for the foreseeable future in the wake of Woods extra-marital revelations. They are holding back from distancing themselves completely stating that they are supporting his desire for a lower profile while he attempts to resolve his marital problems. A holding position that could yet go either way.

There is no doubt that the Woods brand has been damaged, just how badly only time will tell.

There seems little hope of his marriage recovering from the revelations however with Elin in discussions with divorce lawyers.

Ex-model Elin Nordegren has vowed to bring up the couple’s two young children alone and is preparing for a bitter custody battle with her cheating husband Tiger Woods over them following his refusal to see sex addiction doctors.

She is also planning to limit the golf star to occasional visits to see his children Sam, aged two, and Charlie, 10-months and is also preparing to fight for half his reported £340m fortune.

Elin had originally been prepared to agree joint custody arrangements with Woods but she feels she has been forced into a change of heart by his total refusal to seek any professional help from doctors and therapists about his addiction to illicit romps.

Woods total denial of his sex addiction problem has frustrated Elin, and has prompted her decision to try to limit his involvement in the children’s lives. One of Elin’s friends said: “She can’t believe Tiger’s behaviour. He says he wants to save the marriage but he’s not doing anything about it”. She went on to add “He’s hiding out like a child and refusing to go to rehab to get the treatment he needs. She’s so mad at him, she’s flipping out. Everyone wants Tiger to get treatment and going down that road was his only real chance of delaying the divorce, but he wouldn’t even sit through therapy”.
