It started off as just another immigration case. In August 1996 a man going under the name of Shaqa Shatri arrived in the UK with his tale of woe. He told immigration officials that he was a Kosovan refugee fleeing from the Serbs and that he wanted to come here to avoid persecution.
Being the nice people we are we gave him a British Passport, incapacity benefits (as he explained that he was suffering from post traumatic stress and depression) and a council house in Fulham.
To be a liar you need a good memory and he slipped up. He had to register with Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow Health Authority to claim his incapacity benefit and without thinking he filled in his real name.
Poor, sick refugee Shaqa Shatri is in fact Ilir Kumbaro and he is a former Albanian intelligence chief wanted for torture and kidnapping! His 13 years as Shaqa Shatri with the stolen doctored passport are over and he is facing extradition for his crimes!
And to think people laugh when I say Osama bin Laden is probably alive and well and living on the dole in Southall!
