SINGER Amy Winehouse is to appear in court next month accused of kicking a panto theatre manager in the groin. The troubled star, 26, was charged with common assault when she and her lawyer went to a police station yesterday. Richard Pound, 27, front-of-house manager allegedly had his hair pulled he was also punched and kicked between the legs.
It has been reported that Winehouse was in the audience for a performance of Cinderella in Milton Keynes, Monday. A number of the performers, including Anthea Turner, veteran Mickey Rooney and Bobby Davro were heckled by the star. At one point, she stood up and shouted: “He’s f***ing behind you“. Winehouse is due to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on January 20.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “A woman from Hertfordshire has been charged in connection with an assault at Milton Keynes Theatre on Saturday night. Amy Winehouse, aged 26, was charged with a Section 5 public order offence and common assault under the name Amy Civil. Ms Civil attended Milton Keynes police station voluntarily with her legal adviser at 1.15pm. She was formally arrested on suspicion of assault and public order.”
Chief executive of the Milton Keynes Theatre, Elizabeth Adlington, said: “We can confirm a member of the audience was asked to leave the building during a performance of Cinderella. “As for further information regarding the alleged incident we cannot comment as it is being investigated by the police.”
