Michael Cera and Edgar Wright geek it up for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World London premiere

To celebrate the UK release of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, the celebrity attendees at the London premiere of the quirky new film were unafraid to show their geeky sides.

Leading the geek-chic parade was Canadian actor and unlikely pin-up Michael Cera (who also starred in Superbad, Juno, and TV series Arrested Development), who plays the lead role in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Cera opted to sport some unusual accessories for the red carpet event, including a huge pair of glasses and his initials “MC” scribbled on his nose.

Cera stopped to pose for the press with co-stars Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited), Mary Elizabeth Winstead – Cera’s love interest in the film – and British director Edgar Wright.

Also out on the red carpet was Florence Welch, Martin Freeman, Twilight star Anna Kendrick (who also played a role in Scott Pilgrim), X Factor runner-up Olly Murs and TV presenters Claudia Winkleman and Dermot O’Leary.

Wright, who is best known for directing Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and cult TV series Spaced, was joined by past collaborators and close friends Jessica Hyndes and Simon Pegg at the London premiere. Shortly after the high-profile event, comic book fan Pegg posted a message on his Twitter page saying how much he loved the film.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is adapted from a popular comic book series of the same name, and is an American action comedy with a romantic story. Michael Cera plays an unlikely action hero who meets the feisty girl of his dreams (Winstead) but has to defeat her seven evil exes before they can be together.
