Virtually the same time as her new fragrance was being released at Knightsbridge store Harrods, former Friends actress Jennifer Aniston, 41, was taking out a restraining order against a man suspected of stalking her.

A Santa Monica court granted the temporary restraining order after Jason R. Peyton, 24, was detained by police. Peyton was stopped and arrested last month “outside a location he thought she frequents” according to Aniston’s publicist.

It is believed that Peyton was travelling cross-country to find the star, scouring Santa Monica Boulevard in the hope of running into her. He is reported to be obsessed with Aniston, and on a delusional mission to find her and marry her. A statement from the actress has described the devastating effect Mr Peyton’s behaviour has had on her life. She said:

“Due to Mr. Peyton’s delusional compulsion and increasingly harassing, stalking and threatening conduct, I have been subjected to a course of conduct which has and is seriously alarming, annoying and harassing me.

“Mr. Peyton’s ongoing, ever-increasing, aggressive and harassing conduct are extremely distressing. I fear for my personal safety and that of those around me.”

The suspected stalker is now being held by Los Angeles police as he undergoes psychiatric examination. The court has banned him from going anywhere near Aniston’s home, work or any of her vehicles. A hearing on the restraining order is expected to take place on August 9th.

Aniston, on the other hand, is currently in London promoting her first ever fragrance, simply called Jennifer Aniston.
