Shortly after popular Irish TV presenter Christine Bleakley left the BBC and her role as host of the One Show in a blaze of controversy, she has quickly been replaced by a new presenter who looks just like her.

After beating out competition from 11 other women, Alex Jones, 32, has been officially named as the new face of the One Show, which she will co-host with comedian Jason Manford.

Jones – who used to date attractive fellow Welsh-born T4 presenter Steve Jones – is well established on Welsh TV, after presenting travel, sports and style shows on the Welsh-speaking channel S4C for a number of years. She was even voted the 30^th sexiest woman in Wales by Western Mail in 2009, and she bears an uncanny resemblance to Bleakley.

Unlike Christine Bleakley, however, Jones will only be able to command a fifth of her predecessor’s salary. She will receive a £100,000 contract, but she is not complaining. Speaking of her new job, Jones said:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to bits.

“I watch the show at home every night on my sofa and can’t believe I’m now swapping it for The One Show sofa.”

With Manford and Jones at the helm of the popular teatime show, BBC bosses have said that they have their “dream team” in place.

Christine Bleakley, meanwhile, has been in the papers yet again after it was revealed that her boyfriend Frank Lampard’s ex, Ellen Rives,has forbidden her from being involved in their children’s lives.
