Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack found dead

Just five months after the sudden and tragic death of young Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy, her grieving husband has also been found dead at their Los Angeles home.

According to reports, British screenwriter Simon Monjack was found dead at his home on Rising Glen Road, Los Angeles, on Sunday 23rd May.

The full details and the cause of death have not yet been released by officials, but a number of sources have been speaking to the press and rumours are abounding. Some reports claim that Mr Monjack, 39, was found unconscious in his bedroom by the late actress’ mother Sharon Murphy, whilst others say that the suspected cause of death is a heart attack.

The Los Angeles Fire Department say they responded to an “unspecified medical aid request” at around 9.24pm, whilst an LA police sergeant said to reporters at the LA Times:

“We have detectives at the scene. They are conducting their investigation. Once we have further information, we will provide it.”

Brittany Murphy, 32, died last December, the post mortem revealing the cause of death to be pneumonia, complicated by an overdose of the painkiller Vicodin as well as anaemia and an iron deficiency.

Mr Monjack was understandably devastated by the death of his wife; he angrily blamed film bosses in Hollywood for what happened, saying they had “blood on their hands.”

Many have speculated that his comment referred to producers cutting Murphy’s role on the Happy Feet sequel just days before she died, reportedly leaving the actress ‘devastated’.
