Classical singer Charlotte Church has spoken openly about the demise of her relationship with rugby union star Gavin Henson and her new relationship with musician Johnny Powell.

They were the hot couple in celeb land for five years and everyone had started to naturally assume that the pair would be getting married; especially as they had two children together. So When Gavin Henson finally popped the question to Charlotte Church, there was a sigh of relief amongst celeb lovers across the country.

But the fairytale all came crashing down not long after their much publicised engagement. And Charlotte has just revealed that her mind was changed after Gavin’s trip to the Arctic as part of the ITV programme 71 Degrees North.

The singer has explained that Gavin’s trip gave them both chance to think about their relationship and it also allowed him chance to get to know himself. When he returned, Charlotte says that he had changed. He had matured and become more open and they both decided that they no longer wanted to be together.

Charlotte is now in a relationship with fellow musician Johnny Powell but she insists that the pair didn’t start seeing each other until her and Gavin had already split up. Speaking of her relationship with Johnny, Charlotte said: ‘It’s great because we like the same stuff. He’s very intelligent, very clever and he’s an amazing musician. That’s where most of the bond lies. A lot of the time we’re together we write songs, talk about music. We just like the same stuff, the same films – it’s nothing groundbreaking.’

It seems that both Charlotte and Gavin have moved on since the split with Charlotte finding love with her new man and Gavin keeping bust with Strictly Come Dancing.
