Nielsen was being treated for pneumonia at a hospital in Fort Lauderdale in Florida when he died, leaving behind scores of devastated family members, friends, colleagues and fans. Tributes have already started flooding in on micro-blogging website Twitter, from fans and celebrity acquaintances.

Comedian Russell Brand tweeted:

“RIP Leslie Nielsen. Shirley, he will be missed.”

Meanwhile, actress Marlee Matlin, who was a friendof the late actor, posted:

“A lovely man and acquaintance passed away today – Leslie Nielsen. What a lovely, funny, talented man. He will be missed. RIP.”

Although the 84-year-old was most famous for his roles in 1980s spoof classic Airplane!,The Naked Gun movies – in which he starred alongside Priscilla Presley – and comedy crime series Police Squad; Nielsen starred in more than 100 films throughout his lifetime.

Nielsen’s memorable voice and authoritative presence (Nielsen was 54 when he had his big comedic break in Airplane!) meant he played everyone from doctors, judges and sheriffs, but all were basically versions of the same much-loved character.

The Canada-born actoralso had his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and will be remembered as the “king of comic one-liners”. His most famous line, believed to be “Don’t call me Shirley”, from Airplane!, has been posted all over the internet in tribute to the man himself.

The news of the divorce broke on Wednesday (17th November), just hours after the couple reportedly denied that they had split up. In the divorce filing, Longoria cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the split, although rumours are now circulating that Parker was unfaithful to Longoria with a teammate’s wife.

According to reports, Longoria confided in her actor and TV presenter friend Mario Lopez that she had found text messages from another woman on her husband’s phone. Entertainment news programme Extra, which Lopez presents, named the woman as Erin Barry, the wife of Parker’s former teammate Brent Barry.

Longoria and Parker married back in 2007, in a fairytale wedding ceremony in Paris. Eva took her new husband’s name, becoming Eva Longoria Parker, and the couple have seemed very much in love ever since. They have often been pictured with good friends David and Victoria Beckham out in L.A., as well as at Parker’s basketball games where Eva cheers her husband on from the sidelines.

In the divorce filing, Longoria reportedly requests that her legal name be changed back to its maiden form and for Parker to pay her spousal support.

Speaking outside the San Antonio Spurs locker room this week, Parker said:

“It’s a difficult time right now for me and Eva,”

“We got a joint statement and everything else is our private life.”

The advert for the Beyonce’s first fragrance features the singer dressed in a revealing, red silk dress and acting provocatively for the cameras. The ad is set to a cover version of the song ‘Fever’, performed by Beyonce and originally recorded for the soundtrack to her 2003 film The Fighting Temptations.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that the advert is unsuitable to be seen by children, and it will now only be shown outside of family programming hours, after 7.30pm.The decision came after members of the public complained that their children had seen the advert when it was broadcast during the middle of the day.

Coty UK, the makers of the Heat fragrance, have refuted the allegations about the advert being too risqué. The perfume company says that the advert is “intended to reflect the singer Beyoncé’s personal ‘sexy chic’ style”, and that it is not overtly sexual or explicit. It was added that Coty believed the commercial to be in keeping with the style of other perfume adverts.

In a statement released this week, the ASA said:

“Although we considered that the ad was unlikely to be harmful to adults or older children, we considered that Beyonce’s body movements and the camera’s prolonged focus on shots of her dress slipping away to partially expose her breasts created a sexually provocative ad that was unsuitable to be seen by young children.”

The news was broken by Clarence House, the official residence and private office of the Prince of Wales and his family, including Princes William and Harry. The statement read:

“The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.

“The wedding will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.”

It was also revealed that William and Kate became engaged in secret during their October 2010 holiday in Kenya, and that they plan to live in North Wales after they have tied the knot so that William can continue serving in the Royal Air Force.

In a charmingly old-fashioned touch, it was also mentioned that Kate’s father had been asked his permission for the union to take place.

The long-awaited wedding is set to take place during spring or summer 2010, and speculation is already mounting over whether an extra national holiday will be granted by Downing Street in honour of the occasion. This was the case at the last momentous royal wedding, that of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in July 1981.

The reactions to the news have been universally joyous, with congratulations flooding in from the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy PM Nick Clegg and Labour leader Ed Miliband.

Simpson, 30, confirmed the happy news through a spokesperson on People.com, but she herself has previously said of the relationship:

“I couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now. I’m not gonna jinx my own self. He’s the one for me right now,”

“I’m very happy, I’m in a great place, and if right now could last forever, I’d take it.”

Simpson has recently been photographed showing off her Neil Lane diamond and ruby engagement ring at a store launch in Kansas City.

The singer, reality TV star and actress – whose film credits include The Dukes of Hazzard and Employee of the Month – has been dating 31-year-old NFL player Eric Johnson, who has played for the San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints throughout his career, since May 2010.

Johnson started seeing Simpson just months after separating from his wife of five years Keri Johnson, with the couple’s divorce only coming through in September 2010.

Simpson herself has had relationships with US singer John Mayer, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and famously, 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. Simpson and Lachey married in 2002 and divorced in 2006, after making a reality TV show ‘Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica’ together.

The timing of the engagement announcement has been questioned by some, as it is comes just ten days after Lachey announced his engagement to girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

The world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was held in London, where a number of scenes from the film were shot. In fact, much of the action in the film takes place away from Hogwarts, the wizarding school the famous trio attend.

Showing that she has far outgrown the role that made her famous, that of swotty schoolgirl Hermione Granger, Watson seemed confident with her new grown-up look – complete with newly cropped hairstyle – as she posed with Harry Potter co-stars Rubert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe on the red carpet in Leicester Square. Along with her co-stars, Watson has said that she is sad to be saying goodbye to the franchise, after making eight films over nine years.

Also present at the premiere were fellow cast members Bonnie Wright (who plays Ginny Weasley), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) and Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort). The author of the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling, also made an appearance in a remarkably similar gown to Watson’s Rafael Lopez for Atelier Mayer dress.

Fans of the film flocked to the premiere in their hundreds, along with a number of X Factor contestants including Katie Waissel, Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle, Wagner and Rebecca Ferguson.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, directed by David Yates, is released in cinemas on November 19th.

Pink (real name Alecia Moore) hasn’t yet confirmed the pregnancy rumours, but a source speaking to Us Weekly reportedly said:

“She’s 12 weeks along. She wanted to do it [have a baby] between tours, when she has some time off.”

After meeting in 2001 and tying the knot in Costa Rica in 2006, Pink and husband of more than four years, motocross racer Carey Hart, announced their separation in February 2008. The couple reconciled in spring 2009, and speculation over a possible pregnancy has been mounting ever since.

In April 2010, after the Funhouse singer was spotted with a more rounded tummy than usual, a spokesperson for Pink was forced to deny rumours that she was pregnant, categorically stating to People magazine: “Pink is not expecting.”

However, Us Weekly’s source is insisting that Pink really is pregnant, and that her decision to have a baby was prompted byher reconciliation with Hart. The source said:

“Pink was determined to make the relationship solid. Now she’s really happy, and she’s excited she got pregnant so fast! She’ll be a brilliant mother.”

Fans of the outspoken artist are now eagerly awaiting official confirmation from Pink herself, who is a regular use of social networking site Twitter.

Scottish TV presenter Gail Porter, 39, was supposed to be joining the celebrities in the Aussie jungle, but pulled out at the last minute. She has been replaced at short notice by the virtually unknown Collins, who was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in August 2008.

Last year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! saw celebrity chef Gino D’Campo, cleaning queen Kim Woodburn, former model Samantha Fox and snooker player Jimmy White enter the jungle, with D’Campo emerging victorious. This was despite the chef angering animal rights campaigners by killing and eating a rat he and fellow contestant Stuart Manning came across.

The new series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will start on Sunday 14th November, with Ant and Dec returning as hosts of the show.

Pulp – consisting of Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior, Nick Banks and Mark Webber – formed in Sheffield in 1978. However, the band only started to achieve commercial success with their 1994 album His ‘n’ Hers and 1995’s Different Class, which featured the hit singles Common People, Disco 2000 and Sorted for E’s and Wizz. By October 2003, Pulp had sold more than 10 million records.

Pulp split in 2002, and solo artist Cocker was denying rumours that the band was reforming as recently as October 2009. Speaking to Teletext, he said:

“Pulp have no plans to get back together… Someone asked me if I fancied playing at the 40th anniversary of Glastonbury, I said yes, they twisted that into a ‘Pulp reform’ story. It’s not true.”

Despite this seemingly definite statement, Pulp have now announced that the Different Class lineup will get back together for a series of summer festival performances. The band is set to perform at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona in May and the Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park in July.

A spokesperson for Pulp confirmed:

“Pulp have decided to get together and play some concerts next summer.

“The shows will involve all the original members and they will play songs from all periods of their career.”

After all the other acts had been put through to next week’s show by the public vote, bottom two TreyC Cohen and Katie Waissel competed against each other in the sing-off. Whilst TreyC put in an admirable performance of Toni Braxton’s Unbreak my Heart, Waissel seemed to lose her composure during her rendition of Please Don’t Give Up On Me.

Part-way through the aptly-titled song, Waissel appeared to forget her words, exclaimed ‘sod it’ and sat on the stage as she half-sang, half-spoke the begging lyrics of the song.

As the mentor of both contestants, judge Cheryl Cole was faced with a difficult decision over who to send home. Unusually, as the mentor of both bottom two acts is usually asked last, host Dermot O’Leary asked a visibly upset Cole for her vote second, after Simon Cowell had voted to save Waissel.

Although X Factor officials say that Cole abstained from voting, she actually asked O’Leary to ask the other judges and then come back to her so that she could push it to deadlock and let the public vote decide the outcome.

Running out of time, O’Leary said that the majority vote from the three remaining judges would decide which hopeful would be sent home. Although Dannii Minogue voted to save Cohen, Louis Walsh’s decision to save Waissel meant that the former was sent home.

Many viewers have complained that this constitutes a change of the rules, with some demanding that TV watchdog Ofcom investigate the allegations.

According to reports, 29-year-old Manford, who is married with two children with a third on the way, sent a number of flirty messages via Twitter to fan Debra McNamee, 22, in October 2009. This was around three months after he replaced Adrian Chiles on BBC1’s The One Show - which Manford now co-hosts with Welsh TV presenter Alex Jones.

Speaking to the Sun newspaper, McNamee even claims that the Salford-born comedian even persuaded her to send him racy pictures of herself. Describing the exchange, McNamee says:

“When I first sent a message to him I thought he would never reply. Famous people never do and I was surprised when he got in touch.

“At first he just asked me about my dog and what I was up to and things like that. But after a while it started to get a bit more flirty.

“He’d ask me for photos and then tell me how excited he was by them.”

Now that the story has been revealed by the press, Manford – who has around 300,000 followers on Twitter – has been forced to issue a public apology. He said:

“I can see now that what started out as a bit of messing about and having a laugh on Twitter has been misjudged and I’d like to apologise to anyone that this has offended as that was the last thing I ever intended to do.”

Tittensor, who turned 21 on the day of the incident, was leaving the Highbury Magistrates Court when a stranger punched him in the stomach. The actor – who got his big break in Brookside and has since played Carl Gallagher in Shameless and Daz Eden in Emmerdale – was in court for a driving offence which left a teenager injured, and had just been fined for driving without insurance.

Tittensor was accompanied to court by his 18-year-old girlfriend Kaya Scodelario, who is an actress most famous for her starring role as troubled teen EffyStonemin hit Channel 4 show Skins.

Scodelario reacted with terror as the unnamed 46-year-old man attacked her boyfriend outside the court, and shocking photos of her screaming and in floods of tears have been published on the Daily Mail website.

An onlooker, speaking to the Daily Mail, described what happened:

“He [Tittensor] was walking down the steps when a guy tapped him on the shoulder and just smacked him in the stomach all of a sudden.

“He came from nowhere, I don’t know who he was.”

Tittensor’s security tackled and subdued the mystery attacker and hustled the actor and a terrified Scodelario into a waiting car. A Shameless publicist confirmed that the couple were not injured in the scuffle.

Securing the diminutive singer – who has worked within the music industry for more than thirty years, and was once ranked #28 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time –is a considerable achievement for Simon Cowell and his production team.

Speaking to the Daily Mail this week, a source said:

“Simon Cowell had been trying to get Prince on the show for so long, he is a massive fan and it is a big coup.

“At the moment the plans are being kept under wraps – but it will make for the biggest X Factor final ever seen.”

It is not known in what capacity Prince will appear during the X Factor final, but insiders are expecting him to duet alongside one of the final three in a much-anticipated duet. Last year’s winner Joe McElderry received a similar honour last year when he duetted with George Michael, whilst 2008’s winner Alexandra Burke famously performed alongside her idol Beyoncé.

Prince is notoriously private and has not spoken or appeared in public for years, after withdrawing from the internet due to his objections to digitally downloadable music and a dispute with iTunes, but is back in the UK later this year to promote his new album, 20Ten.

Following on from his anticipated performance on the X Factor live final in December, Prince is also tipped to headline Glastonbury 2011 and launch a new US tour called ‘Welcome 2 America’.

Willoughby, 29, announced the happy news live on This Morning, the ITV breakfast show she hosts with fellow presenter Philip Schofield. Before the show, she left her Twitter followers a teaser for the announcement that was to follow, tweeting:

“So, we are back from half term and you may want to tune in (to This Morning)… I’ve got something to say xxx”

Willoughby, a former children’s TV presenter who got her big break presenting ITV’s Dancing on Ice (also alongside Philip Schofield), met her producer husband Dan Baldwin on the set of the children’s TV programme Ministry of Mayhem. Willoughby hosted the show with Stephen Mulhern for two years, until moving on to present CD:UK.

The couple announced their engagement in May 2006, and were married in West Sussex in August 2007, with Willoughby’s best friend Fearne Cotton as bridesmaid and X Factor host Dermot O’Leary as usher.

Willoughby had her first child, Harry, in May last year. The news of this first pregnancy was inadvertently broken by comments from X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh when Willoughby was hosting The Xtra Factor, but the presenter isn’t taking any chances this time. She and Baldwin released an official statement saying:

“Dan and I are absolutely thrilled to be expecting our second child, due next May. We can’t wait for Harry to have a brother or sister.”

The screening of Last Night was intended to be a spectacular opening to the 5th International Rome Film Festival, but the event was overshadowed by the 800-strong crowd of protestors who stormed the red carpet.

Film industry workers are currently in arms over the Italian government’s decision to make drastic cuts to cultural events funding, and the high-profile nature of the film festival apparently made it the ideal place to stage a protest.

Both actresses were dressed in spectacular gowns, but Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes didn’t get a chance to revel in the spotlight at the Rome premiere of their new film, Last Night. One protestor held up a banner reading:

“Culture is a right.”

“The credits are about people who work.”

In all the chaos created by the protest, the stars of Last Night were forced to rush straight inside the theatre under the protection of bodyguards. Knightley and Mendes, who play romantic rivals in the film, both wore beautiful floor-length gowns to the premiere, but unfortunately had no opportunity to show them off. Both actresses were pictured looking worried and stressed as they were whisked away from the crowd.

Last Night is directed by Iranian-American screenwriter Massy Tadjedin and also stars Avatar star Sam Worthington and French actor Guillaume Canet.
